Workplace Training and Development

Please view our corporate trainings and professional development offerings below.  Every presentation is customizeable to your organization's needs and time constraints.  Some programs are single events while others can be multiple sessions.  We are also available to do data sampling using applied psychological research methods to collect and measure employee perceptions through employee engagement and job satisfaction surveys and questionnaires, structured or semi-structured interviews,  self report assessments or more formal occupationally-related academic or cognitive assessments.

This training is a single session presentation of up to two hours or two sessions lasting one hour.  The topics of emotional intelligence and social emotional learning are explored individually or together to help employees increase self awareness, social awareness, self management and relationship management.  

Activities in each session are designed to enhance self awareness and to build employee capacity to work positively with others.

Employee engagement is based upon many factors related to relationships with co-workers, the use of skills and abilities, meaningfulness and job satisfaction.  Employees who feel that are able to accomplish their goals are more likely for feel engaged by their work.  

This training helps both the employer and employee identify the componenets that empower employees to feel engaged, exploring how autonomy, mastery and purpose cause employees to be more intrinsically motivated to accomplish their goals.   

Mindfulness is emerging as a "present centered" approach to enhancing well being, improving employee performance and creating a more positive and productive workplace.  

This training can be a single event presentation on the topic of mindfulness with an introduction to Mindful Breathing as a workplace mindfulness strategy to enhance employee well being. Books and training materials are available for this training.

Daily Mindfulness is a science-based, fully comprehensive stress management program that consists of short lectures and practice sessions.  

The key characteristics of mindfulness include the self-regulation of attention and emotions, the ability to sustain attention, and non-judgmentally accept the present experience (Eberth & Sedelmeier, 2012; Kabat-Zinn, 1990). 


Mindfulness-based interventions are known to provide significant improvement in anxiety, depression and stress reactivity in adults. (Regehr et al, 2013; Hoffmann et al., 2010).

This training is conducted over eight weeks.  Participants will learn about the key topics and strategies that support daily mindfulness. 

Workplace stress challenges an organization in many areas.  From employee absenteeism to low productivity, stress can undermine success.  This training uses data sampling techniques to identify factors that are contributing to stress in the workplace.  Employee questionnaires and surveys are collected, facilitated conversations are conducted, and structured interviews can help your organization identify and address stress related factors.   

Your presenter for these trainings is Dr. Don Matthews who holds a doctorate in human and organizational psychology (PsyD) and uses applied psychological research methods in cognitive-behavioral, social and educational psychology.   He is a trauma support specialist, cognitive coach and a coaching psychologist.  www.ddmatthewspsyd.com

Coaching Services 

Cognitive Behavioral Coaching is an approach to problem solving and solution seeking using cognitive and behavioral techniques and strategies that help individuals to reach and achieve goals.  It is based upon a therapeutic model known as cognitive behavioral therapy, which addresses the connection between cognition, emotions and behavior.  As a practice, it is used to improve the quality of thinking by reducing cognitive distortions and patterns of unhealthful thinking in individuals or groups.

Creating Mindful Business Cultures 

Building on our Mindfulness in the Workplace seminar, Creating Mindful Business Cultures is an in-depth coaching program designed to promote a culture of mindfulness within your organization. We coach teams to develop mindfulness practices and awareness which can be shared throughout the organization.  Along with input from senior management, the team develops key indicators to measure the impact of mindfulness practices on engagement, productivity, job satisfaction, and other unique metrics important to the organization. Members of the team become mindfulness ambassadors to the rest of business, challenging preconceived notions about mindfulness and its benefits within the organization.  A multi-week coaching program.

Mindfulness Based Executive Coaching

A highly individualized intensive coaching program designed for executives and senior level stakeholders.  Mindfulness Based Executive Coaching challenges the client to recognize and change behaviors blocking optimal professional and personal performance.  Agreed upon individual outcomes are aligned with organizational vision and mission in order to benefit both executive and organization. Clients develop mindfulness techniques to gain awareness of reactive and non-productive behaviors which negatively impact their actions.  Benefits of Mindfulness Based Executive Coaching include improved emotional intelligence, better communication, improved use of teams and resources, higher job satisfaction, leadership development, and improved self-regulation and awareness. Three and six month individualized coaching programs available. 

Mindful Talent Development

One-on-one coaching programs designed to accelerate talent development of high potential individuals.  Working in tandem with senior management, the coach and employee develop a series of goals designed to benefit the employee and the organization.   Mindful Talent Development Coaching increases self-awareness and self-efficacy for high-potential talent. The program is designed to create more effective and adaptable leaders and increase employee retention.  Consists of weekly coaching sessions during a three month program.
